“able to alter our own perceived environment if we think of our eyes like the lens of a camera.”

Portland is dark and gray for an extended portion of the year. Light therapy has proven affective for many with Seasonal Affective Disorder due to the lack of light. I wanted to take this a step farther. I considered how light temperature creates what we call a “mood”. I believe that different colors invoke different sensations and associations. Whether it is associated emotion or a biological response, I am not sure. Suspecting that because we can create what appears to be a sunny environment on set, we should be able to alter our own perceived environment if we think of our eyes like the lens of a camera. I tested a number of lenses and found that the only readily available lens that most effectively changes gray to sun is that of certain safety glasses with deeply tinted yellow lenses. The effect is amazing. What looks dingy, dark and gray turns to bright sunny. I imagined branding and marketing this new discover as, “Happy Glasses”.
